The Chest protectors you will find on this website are designed to protect the entire torso, and are held in place with shoulder straps. Each have a wide variety of features to look for depending on the level the young player plays at. Some chest protectors contain much more advanced protection and are made from special foam to increase rebound control and keep baseballs closer to the catcher upon deflection. There are also chest protectors on the market that are built with great ventilation systems which helps decrease the amount of potential mold that can form with overuse.
Youth Chest Protector Sizing
Because every player is different, it is important to determine the catcher’s size before making any purchase. To properly size for the chest protector, simply take a piece of measuring tape and measure from the bottom of the throat area all the way down to the belly button area. Typically, for players aged 9-12, a Youth size is more than adequate whereas Ages 12 to 15 require an Intermediate size.
